The portfolio managers are going to breakdown their interpretation of the U.S. equity markets in 2021 in connection with the performance of the strategies through the lens of volatility. Embedded in U.S. equity market volatility is valuable information that can be used to estimate near-term market price-movement. Recent periods of market disruption provided live tests of this thesis. The Cboe Volatility Index® (VIX) and VIX futures provide a window into estimates of coming volatility on dual time horizons, such estimates often have inverse correlation to market price-movement.
